Ernie Ball 2221 Regular SLINKY electric guitar strings are a top seller, and a favorite of guitar players around the world. Such musicians as Eric Clapton, John Mayer, and Steve Vai choose Regular Slinky for their tone, feel, and performance. All of the wound strings in a Regular Slinky set are made by winding nickel plated steel wrap wire over a hexagonal steel core wire. The bare strings (without windings) are made with specially tempered, tin plated high carbon steel.  Together they produce as set with well balanced tone and volume, that's smooth and easy to play.   The Ernie Ball Regular Slinky set is a gauge that's extremely versatile and works well in all genre of electric guitar music. Joyce Cooling uses Ernie Ball 2221's but with a slight modification to the set. She uses a 0.012 inch string in place of the regular 0.010 for high  E, on her custom  electric. She depends on Ernie Ball strings to give her the tone and performance she wants for her style of electric Jazz.  Her guitar (pictured to the right) is a custom, built for  her by Rich Hoeg of Hoeg Stringed Instruments in San Francisco (www.hoegguitars.com). She needed a guitar she could travel with on the airlines as carry-on. She went to Rich and he came up with this awsome axe. The body is made of alder and the two sides are removable to fit the carry-on luggage requirements. The neck is made of rock maple with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The pickups are Seymour Duncan Cool Rails. The two sides go in a bag with my miscellaneous guitar accessories and fits under the seat.  She also uses the same strings on her custom Strat.  Ernie Ball strings give her consistent tone, feel, and life.
