MXR M134 Stereo Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal
For Electric Guitar, by Dunlop

The MXR M134 Stereo Chorus is a gorgeous sounding pedal that will make you understand just how cool a well shaped chorus can sound. The MXR M134 Stereo Chorus adds sparkle to clean toned arpeggios, life to simple strums, and will expand and fatten distorted power chords. The M134 actually takes your straight incoming guitar signal, makes copies of it, adds some frequency modulation and phase delay, then runs them in parallel with your original signal. The effect is like multiple guitars playing in close harmony, creating a chorus of guitars.

The M134 lets you control the effect to suit your desires. You can set the Rate and Width controls to your liking and then dial in as much effect as you want with the Intensity knob. Then use the Bass and Treble controls to further EQ their modulated frequencies. The M134 can run in the mono mode, our you can switch to stereo output for a huge, vibrant sound. If you want to preserve the low end of your guitar tone, just use the Bass Filter button to apply the effects to the high frequencies only.

Controls:
Foot switch: toggles effect ON/BYPASS. A red LED indicates when it's ON.
Intensity: adjusts overall effect level
Rate and Width (2 separate knobs): these two musically voiced controls let you shape the chorus tone, from subtle and sparkling to lush and watery
Bass and Treble (2 separate knobs): EQ for the modulated frequencies only
Stereo: gives you a huge tonal spread
Bass Filter: lets your low frequencies pass through unaffected.
Power:  The MXR M134 Stereo Chorus is powered by two 9-volt batteries, but can also be powered by a Dunlop ECB-004 18-volt DC regulated AC adapter, or a Dunlop Power Brick.  Please note that the M134 must use either the ECB-004 or the DC Brick in order to work in the stereo chorus mode.  Plug polarity is positive on the barrel and negative on the center.  The M134 will draw up 26mA.

Operation: To get started, just run a standard guitar cable from your guitar to the M134's input jack. Then run a second M134 Stereo Choruscable from the Mono output jack to an amplifier, and you're ready to go. If you want to play in stereo, and realize the Full Effect of the M134 Stereo Chorus, run another (3rd) cable from the Stereo output jack on the M134 to a second amplifier. The Mono output jack can also accept a stereo cable (tip-ring-sleeve), as an optional set-up. Set all the knobs to 12:00 position, press the foot switch (red LED comes ON). Turn the Intensity knob clockwise for thicker, richer chorusing, or counter-clockwise for less. Then begin experimenting with the Width and Rate controls. Higher settings will give you watery warbles; lower settings give you less dramatic shimmers. Next, try the Bass and Treble controls, to tailor the chorus more musically. Engaging the Bass Filter gives you more control and selectivity, letting you retain the thump of your bass strings while restricting the chorusing to the high strings. Disengaging the Bass Filter applies the effect to all frequencies.
