Matched GT6L6GE Medium Duet Amplifier Power Tubes
The popular Groove Tubes GT6L6GE power tube medium duet (DM) is a faithful reproduction of the original General Electric "clear top" tube, one of the most popular tubes ever built. They are made in Groove Tube's Sylmar, California factory on the original General Electric machines, using original tooling, dies, materials, and process controls, as acquired from the liquidation of the last American tube factory in Ownesboro, Kentucky The GT6L6GE uses the original General Electric plate material, a complex multi-layer alloy; and grids are made on the same grid winders used by GE. Some of the other components are made by the same manufacturers who made them for GE and the majority of the tube industry. Groove Tubes realized they would need a larger facility to do the final assembly, so they contracted to do some of the final assembly steps with their partner factory in China. This allowed them to maintain the quality they wanted, and still keep the price reasonable.
The GT6L6GE's sound and performance are extremely close to the original GE tube, which was famous for its deep bottom, burly mids, and sparkling highs, but is a little louder and brighter in tone. Their sound is reminiscent of Carl Perkins and other artists all the way through Jimi Hendix. Both played and recorded primarily through Fender amps which used these tubes. Demand for the GT6L6GE is soaring, simply they sound so good.
We offer the GT6L6GE in matched sets of two (duets).
