Grooves Tube GT12AT7 Phase Inverter Amp Tube

 

12AT7s are widely used in internal functional roles in many Fender black face and silver face amps, and several other US made tube amplifiers. Many amps have two 12AT7s, on to drive the reverb stage and one for phase inversion to drive the push/pull output stage. The Groove Tubes GT 12AT7 is a rugged and very durable tube, and is sometimes dual labeled as a 6201 as well as 12AT7, for other applications. The 12AT7 design is not normally used in tone generating functions, but can be substituted in place of a 12AX7 for a very bright and punch tone. However, it's generally used as an internal work horse tube, and isn't regarded as a "good" tone tube. Groove Tubes tests their GT 12AT7s under extreme conditions and guarantees them to be free of excess noise and microphonic ring.
