What makes Fender Original Bullets unique is the use of a cylindrical brass slug, or "bullet" at the tail end of the string, instead of a standard round ball. The bullet is designed to slip snugly into the string block of a Fender Strat or similar guitar, to firmly anchor the string, and to come out easily when it's time to change strings. Bullets are better for this since standard ball end strings tend to get stuck in the sting block, making string changes troublesome; or they have a tendency to shift, twist, or "cock" under hard playing, causing a change in string tension when you need it most.
The view to the right shows the differences between the Fender bullet and the standard ball end string.
