D'Addario EXL115's feature nickel plated steel round wrap over a hex core, to provide excellent magnetic characteristics for single coil and dual coil pickups. Nickel plated steel wire is precision wound over steel hex cores, using computer controlled winding machines to monitor wrap speed and tension. Hex cores give the wrap wire something to hold on to, and don't slip. The result is the best guitar strings on the market, with precise intonation and unmatched consistency, set after set. Though round wound, EXL115's have a smooth feel, which is easy on the fingers and reduces fret wear. This slightly heavier set has a bare third string and is still easy to bend for blues, hard rock, and rockabilly. Being a little more massive, they are also great for rhythm and jazz. EXL115's can produce plenty of volume and have a full spectrum tone, form deep basses and warm mids to very bright, ringing trebles.
