D'Addario Flat Tops are a bit different than ordinary round wound strings. They come from a special manufacturing process in which they begin with full round phosphor bronze windings, but are then precision ground, leaving the outer surface smooth and "semi-flat." This produces a smooth, flat surface on the windings, but without sacrificing the rich, warm tone and character of phosphor bronze strings. Being smoother, they greatly reduce finger noise and are excellent for recording and flatpicking. Flat Tops let you play faster and cleaner, and have more fun.
